Yasser Salama
Dr Salama is a general and colorectal surgeon and is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons.
After acquiring a Masters degree in surgery, he trained in general surgery in New Zealand and subsequently completed his post fellowship training in colorectal surgery in Australia. He then spent two years gaining advanced laparoscopic colorectal skills training, first as a Fellow at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane then at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.
In recognition for his surgical skills and team work, Dr Salama was offered a position as a consultant staff specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital where he heads the Total Parenteral Nutrition Service. He is also a Visiting Medical Officer at North Shore Private and The Mater Hospitals.
He has particular expertise in minimally invasive surgery for treatment of patients with bowel endometriosis, alongside laparoscopic colon and rectal cancer surgery, complex incisional and parastomal hernia repairs.
He is actively involved in clinical research and teaching, regular lecturing on:
- Management of Bowel Endometriosis
- Prevention and Management of bowel-related complications in gynaecologic surgery
