ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR ALAN LAM MBBS (HONS), FRANZCOG, FRCOG
Associate Professor Alan Lam is one of Australia’s best known gynaecologists for his expertise in endoscopic treatment of complex endometriosis, pelvic floor prolapse, hysterectomy and myomectomy.
He has been directing the internationally renowned CARE Master Classes in Minimally Invasive Pelvic Surgery https://www.sydneycare.com.au/course-details since 2000. This program is based at the Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, affiliated with The University of Sydney, North Shore Private and The Mater Hospital. CARE Master Classes have attracted hundreds of participants from around Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe, North America and is accredited by RANZCOG.
Nationally and internationally recognised for his expertise in minimally invasive surgery and passion for teaching, A/Professor Lam has been invited to lecture and demonstrate surgery at numerous international and national scientific conferences and workshops in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, USA, Canada, Brazil, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam over the last 25 years.
Renowned for his leadership and communication skills, combined with clinical insight and fair-mindedness, A/Professor Lam was the first Australian gynaecologist to serve on the Board of the American Association Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He also served on the Board of the World Endometriosis Society (WES) the International Society Gynecologic Endoscopy (ISGE), and was the President of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgical Society (AGES) between 2007-2011.
Recognised for his extensive clinical experience and up-to-date knowledge, A/Professor Lam is often sought after for opinions related to medico-legal matters nationally and internationally. He is currently serving as a member of AVANT Medical Advisory Committee in N.S.W.
A/Professor Lam holds an academic appointment as Clinical Associate Professor at the Northern Clinical School, University of Sydney where he lectures and teaches medical students on endometriosis and pelvic pain. He is a Visiting Medical Officer to Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private, The Mater hospitals.
Outside medicine, he has wide range of hobbies, including Latin and ballroom dancing, singing, tennis, golf, cycling, kayaking.
